Geologist and EGS member Alison Tymon is well known to members of the society from excursions and the work she has done in recent years to identify and record Local Geodiversity Sites in the Scottish Borders Council area. Over the last few months she has produced a set of new leaflets for the general public covering the interesting sites along the Berwickshire coast, from Cocklawburn Beach, south of Berwick-upon-Tweed, to Pease Bay near Cockburnspath. Leaflets for Siccar Point and St Abbs Head have already been produced as part of the work of the Lothian and Borders GeoConservation group, and these are available here on our website.

Alison has prepared eleven leaflets for other coves and beaches that are well-used by visitors and local people, now available for download on a new website. Sites include Coldingham Sands, Eyemouth, Burnmouth and Berwick. The website also provides background information and a useful map of the area. There is considerable potential for expanding the geological coverage of the Berwickshire area on the website over the next few years, particularly to draw attention to inland sites of interest.
