Canongate Wall

This public sculpture is set into the wall of the Scottish Parliament. It includes a selection of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks from across Scotland with geological or historical significance. Most of the rocks have inscribed quotations, chosen by the people of Scotland. Created by Gillian Forbes and Martin Reilly in 2002, the sculpture consists of flat panels with quotations, several vertical dolerite pieces, an engraved paving stone and numerous other large samples.
