The Edinburgh Geologist is a magazine aimed at amateur geologists and other non-specialists and is currently published twice a year. It combines articles on Scottish geology or having a Scottish flavour together with poetry, entertainment and other ephemera.

The first issue was published in Spring 1977 under the Editorship of Helena Butler. In the following twenty-nine years there were 45 issues and 8 Editors up to Vol 45, in Autumn 2005. After a break, the Edinburgh Geologist was revived as an annual publication with Vol 46 published in late 2009.
