The Volunteer Group welcomes anyone interested in any aspect of local geology
and conservation. The group has evening meetings every month, and also gets involved
in occasional work parties and other events.
Summer Events 2010
The
Lothian GeoConservation Volunteer Group promote one of the Society's main aims,
encouraging public interest in geology. Help at these events is greatly appreciated,
you don't need to be an expert and even turning up for an hour can give someone
else a break. Contact Angus Miller or David Macadam (Contact
Details) for further information.

The
Geology of Holyrood Park - information for the Polish Community in Edinburgh and
visitors from Poland
Joanna Weintritt, originally from Poland, was a member
of the Lothian GeoConservation Volunteer Group. She has started a project to create
Polish-language resources to tell people about the geology of Edinburgh ... which
even considering the wide range of activities that GeoConservation groups get up to across
the UK, must be unique!
Her first publication covers Holyrood Park and Arthur's
Seat, and is available as a pdf file.
Well done Joanna, we look forward to more. But not too fast, as keen members of
the group are reported to be checking your spelling which may take some time!
